Our God

You know, sometimes as we go through life our family or friends near and dear to our hearts find themselves going through challenges; challenges that consume us; consume them.  You look at what life throws their way and you want to help; you want to remove their pain or give them hope. If you could, you would just rewrite the script and make things bettter. In that place there is this feeling of helplessness. The challenge seems too big to comprehend...and then our minds go back to a time where we reflect...a better time...a time when all was well.  It brings us comfort...comfort for a season...and then reality smacks us in the face again.

Last night, our band worked on a new song that Chris Tomlin had done. It is from the album, "And if Our God Is For Us".  It's still new to me and yet the words ring out...amongst the pain...despite the road ahead...
words that encourage...

In the grand scheme of things, this world we live in...this time we spend here..it is a mere spot on the grand wall of eternity...I am reminded of the fact that there is a time where there is no time...a time when we who are separated from loved ones gone on before us, await our arrival...where we spend eternity together...no more sorrows...no more pain...joy and laughter complete.

Against the backdrop of a time when Jesus was called to pray for Lazarus...he stayed, by our standards, too long in that town...and Lazarus died.  Lazarus' sister said, "Jesus, if you could only have been here my brother would be alive..."

Sometimes God seems late...well for Lazarus, even being dead 4 days wasn't too late for Jesus... Against that backdrop, reflect on this song and know that we belong to the family of God...a God who loves us; cares for us beyond our comprehension...and His plan has already been set before us...to make a way so that when our time is done here...however long or short that may seem to be...we will meet up again, where time is stripped away...and there is Joy forever more...

To the Powers family of Toledo...know that you are loved!
